Matt Rampey Has a Blog

A different kind of Sunday

My friend, Steve, pastors a church here in Greenville.  His church is located in a neighborhood and section of town that, over the years, has become one of those areas where income levels have dropped (in relation to the average), crime has gone up, and the minority population has increased.  It’s not an area where most people are looking to plant a new church, especially one that would be financially self-sustainable.

However, Steve has been challenging his church, the majority of which are older and white and don’t live in that neighborhood, to minister in the immediate area in which they’re located.  I’ve linked to his blog where he tells a story about something that happened last Sunday.  I wonder how many churches and pastors would have responded as they did.

The day the dead man came to church
